HAZARDOUS WEATHER POLICY: Safety first! During the Atlantic hurricane season, Hatteras Island may expect storm conditions severe enough to cause concern for the welfare of our residents and visitors. All scheduled parish events are cancelled when Dare County issues mandatory evacuation notices, states of emergency, and travel prohibitions so that everyone can focus on their and their family's personal safety.
